A decent amount is lost when you create a calorie deficit that isn't too large for you to handle comfortably. Be careful that you don't try to lose so fast that you get overwhelmed and give up.

I started MFP at about 285 pounds and lost about 1.5 pounds per week at that point. I'm getting close to my goal so I'm losing about 0.5 pounds per week on average.

Weight loss isn't linear so you won't lose the same amount week after week. Look at your weight trend over the months.
  • 1-1.5 pounds per week is a realistic start.

120 is realisitic for you at 5'0"......i'm 5'1" and weight about 120, good luck. Losing the extra weight is sure to lead to better health.
What is your plan for exercise?
