This is my first real venture in the area of health/weight management. Would appreciate any advice/virtual friend support along the way.
I am Australian male, 48, 175cm (5'9"), 88.3Kg (195lbs). BMI says I am well in the overweight range, bordering on obese.
Oddly enough its hard for me to own up to these numbers as I have been denying facts for so long.
I have a fantastic supportive family. However, no-one else in the household is active in self health/weight management at the moment. Therefore I am effectively on my own in this endeavour.
In January I was 91.5Kg (202lbs), so I have been gradually trying to steer things in the right direction.
I would like to get down to 165lbs (75kg), but most of all I want to reduce the size round the midriff. If this takes 2 years, then so be it. I want any beneficial changes in size to be sustainable.
BMI calculates my ideal weight (BMI 21.7) to be 66.5Kg (147lbs) but I have a hard time believing this is in any way possible (or healthy) for me.
I have the usual pack of lies that I tell myself (Eg. I am not that overweight, I can do this on my own, I don't care what others think, etc..). But its time to put aside the excuses and rationalities do something.
Anyone out there willing to share the journey?
