Does the steps counted by a fitness tracker burn calories? I place my activity level at Sedentary and log my exercise up and every steps we take burn aproximately 20 cals per step for an average person the heavier you are the more you burn. Do i need to log the calorie burn by my daily step taken by the Fitness tracker?

20 cal/step? That can't be right. I set MFP to "sedentary" and then sync my step counter (SHealth) to MFP . Yesterday I logged 14,633 steps. MFP added 598 Calories to my daily intake for that activity. I'm 5'9" and weigh 158 lbs.

However, yes they absolutely DO count if you're set to sedentary. MFP's 'sedentary' corresponds to approximately 3000 steps / day. I've found that using my fitness tracker has made the calorie counting far more reliable than when I was separately logging my activities.

20 calories per step, i don't think so. I earn an extra 100 calories give or take for 1600ish steps.

Sorry got a wrong equation 20 steps = is equal to 1 calorie burned
