Things that go bump in the night

I just posted this story on the "what did you dream last night thread"...because I did not sleep.

I went to bed around 10:00 last night and I was sooo super tired. After a couple of hours of some amazing sleep, I am wakened by my fiance frantically flipping and running his fingers through his ponytail. I sit up and ask him what's wrong. No sooner do the words come out of my mouth, I feel something smack me in the chest. I look down and it was a BIG OL' JUICY ROACH!!! Blech!!!

I was horrified!!! I flung him off me and jumped up and started screaming for my fiance to get up. I shook out the covers thinking he's going to fly out and I can smoosh him, but NO! I looked on the floor, under the bed, under the dresser, every where. I could not find him.

Needless to say I was up all night on cucuracha watch!

What is the scariest, grossest, etc. thing that has ever happened to you while you were asleep?

P.S. I am from New Orleans where roaches are humongo and fly at you and hit you as if you had just been slapped by a grown man!

Ugh, I'm SO sorry! I would die. And then not being able to find it??? Yeah, I'd be creeped out and not be able to sleep, either.

I have a very large plant in my bedroom and it has grown large branches (it looks like a tree, really) so I've anchored the largest branch up against the wall (which happens to be right above my headboard) with those Command Strip hooks. Well, of course, this can't happen during the day or on the weekend, it HAS to happen when I'm dead asleep: the hook came loose and the branch whoooshed down across my face in the middle of the night. Scared me to death! Thankfully, it was nothing living though, so OP your story definitely tops mine.

I used to have what I guess were "night terrors" when I was a kid. I would wake up with an overwhelming sense of fear and dread, that nothing would ever be ok, crying inconsolably. My dreams were normal everyday situations, but the feeling is what made me so upset. Worst "fear" type feeling I think I can remember, it was so vivid.

I also sometimes sleepwalk, which is disturbing. I did it when I was a kid occasionally, it freaked my parents out.
I still occasionally do it and I have no idea until I find a path of destruction in the morning.

Top was son stumbling into our bedroom barely being able to breath. Ended up in ER.

Second was me trying to use my inhaler one night and not realizing the cap was still on and inhaling it and almost choking and dying.

A brown recluse spider got into my pj's and bit me just under my breast when I apparently rolled over squishing it. It hurt and burned. The spider died and I took pictures and saved it because I wasn't sure. Dh was out of town and it was the middle of the night. I took care of it alone but it kind of was a bad few days with reactions to the bite- and I felt uneasy going to bed for awhile. I was a live and let live sort when it came to spiders. Now I am a spider killing sort of person.

One morning early I woke up smelling smoke. The house across the street was burning down. That was pretty scary. No one was hurt but the house was done for.

I've been a sleepwalker ever since I was a kid. My mom said she would wake up and see me staring at her like something out of a horror movie. I used to go outside too. My parents had to put the chain on the door to make sure I didn't wander outside.

The weirdest incident was when I was 17.I've always worn a tshirt to bed and one morning,I woke up without any clothes on. It freaked me out because I couldnt find them anywhere. I searched the house for hours trying to find my shirt. I finally gave up and I went to throw something in the hamper and there they were.

A few weeks ago I had had a late evening binge of salty crunchy carbs. Whatever. I went to bed and slept.

An hour or so later I must've spat up or refluxed or something came back up because I awoke terrified that I couldn't breath. I made an awful racket jumping out of bed and taking deep heaving breaths.

I survived, but I don't want to experience that again.
