GPS app for running (Samsung Galaxy Precedent)

I was looking to take my run outdoors, but wanted something to tell me how long and how far I ran. My boyfriend suggested MapMyRide, but post-run, it wouldn't upload to Facebook. After looking at the FAQs and trying to trouble shoot, my version is missing the option to approve the sync to Facebook. Any good apps out there that work well on older smartphones?

Nike+ Running or RunKeeper if they are available for your phone. I prefer Nike+ over RunKeeper but both are good.

If it is still available look into Google's My Tracks I have used it in the past before getting a GPS watch.

I use Endomondo on my Samsung Galaxy S II. Endomondo is also one of MFP's partner, so whenever I run, walk or anything else, the calories I burn go straight to my MFP Exercise Diary.

You have to pay an annual subscription to have access to the full app, but the free version is good enough for me. It shows you your speed, the calories burnt, the distance, the trajectory, the hydration you'll need, etc.

Runtastic is neat. It can link to facebook and when people like your post about starting a run it will play a notification tone that they are cheering you on. I think Nike does it too. I use Runkeeper, but only now because it has 3 years of history in it. I run a lot and I broke down and bought a Garmin Forerunner 10. No heartrate monitor and runs about 129.99 which is a lower cost option for a solid device.

I too have a samsung and use the Runtastic running and cycling app.
    Just a word of warning
I bought one of those upper arm phone holders - a NiteIze one
killed the GPS for major chunks of my run
problem is once runtastic has synced to My Fitness Pall no matter what you do to modify your run in Runtastic the sync stays the same so it can look like you took twenty minutes to run 1km

Thanks so much! I'm just not sure why the app would be available if parts of it are missing. I guess it could be my ancient phone. :)

I also recently purchased an armband, then was notified it would take a month to ship here (it's coming from Hong Kong). Right now I'm using a piece of a sock, but it did what I needed for my run yesterday.

I use Sporty Pal Pro; the outdoor exercises are free and included in the app. It has all the features you mention. I don't use their calorie estimates, as I use HRM for cardio estimates. I think it is in google play store, and amazon app store.
