Pullups to failure with varying grips, weighted pullups with varying grips, barbell rows, cable rows, deadlifts, Kroc rows, basically just grab something heavy and commence the pulling.

A lot of pulling motion. Real get that mind muscle connection with your lat too don't pull with your biceps. I use my elbows to help feel lat activation

They can only get better if you do more of what you use them for.

Basically any pull. Pullups and deads are two of the better to chose from. Leave a couple in tank so form doesn't break and stimulate and adapt the muscles through progressive overload.

To add to what has already been said, Full range of motion on pull-ups/lat pull-downs will go a long way.

In addition to the above, Climbing. Rope/walls, whatever you can. Same basic pull-up maneuver, but great range of motion.

Pullups with grips at different widths.

I use a Rogue multipurpose bar attached w/clamp to the top of my rack for this purpose.

Lat press down's are really great too.
