Hello! I'm Mabz, 23 years old, 5"5 1/2 and looking to lose about 40 lbs! I'm vegan and have started to be really active at the gym, run, and lift weights. I have just started to be serious about tracking my food.
I've tried losing weight before--I've been notoriously for yo-yoing back and forth. I was doing okay for a while, but then graduate school hit. Working full time and going to school full time caused me to subsequently eat my emotions. Greasy, cheesy burgers, Taco Bell crunchwrap supremes, even the nasty weird "meat"-filled things they have on the rolling heaters at QuikTrip.... you name it. If it successfully clogged arteries, I would eat it.
Slim4Life really helped pull my weight down in Winter 2011-Spring 2012... but I ran out of money and I felt like I had "looked fine" at that point, even though I didn't meet my goal. It didn't take long for the weight to come back up.
Then, I took up smoking again (I had quit for about two years) around Spring of 2012. Great idea, right? But it was successful at maintaining that acceptable weight. When I finally got smart and quit smoking in December 2012, my weight skyrocketed. Of course, this was also the last semester of graduate school + working + finding a job so there was little chance of it going back down.
Cue June 2013. I went vegan and got a trainer. The whole vegan thing has been a learning curve (I had to force myself, with much difficulty, not to become a "junk-food vegan"), but I feel like I am now making acceptable and nutritious choices. As of July 17th I became serious about tracking my food again. I had been working out with my trainer for a month and had lost two measily pounds and 2 measily inches. I knew the culprit had to be food, so I am taking serious steps to monitor what I put in my body from now on.
It would be great to have friends for support and motivation! Especially maintaining the weight--that's the hardest! Fee free to add.
(and yes, I put this intro on my profile page... I just spent that time typing it, why not?)
