Is Eating 5-6 times small healthy meals every 2-3 hours can make you lose weight and can make your metabolism fast?

eat when ever you want to eat. Meal timing means nothing.0

The idea of more eating times translating into higher metabolism is a gimmick, but that doesn't make it useless either. The value of meal timing is that it can help with energy levels and ultimately sticking to the goal of eating to lose weight for some.0

When you eat every 2-3hrs or 5-6times per day it will speed up your metobalism and also help you lose weight faster. Eating small meals this many times makes it easy for your body to burn calories. By constantly supplying nutrients to your body, your body will naturally burn it off along with the excess fat in your body. If you don't eat enough your body goes into what is called "starvation mode". This will make your body stop burning calories and start storing it in your fat cells because your body doesnt know when it will get nutrients again.0

I tried it but soon I was eating 5-6 medium meals a day, which then turned into 5-6 full meals. I just have 3 a day now.0

Wrong^^^^^^ The only benefit to eating smaller meals more often is it may, and that is a big MAY, keep you satiated longer so you do not get hungry and therefore help you control your intake better but there is no benefit to your metabolism.0 -
I eat when I'm hungry. I let my body tell me when to eat. -_-0

Eating small meals a day is a matter of preference only.
It does nothing to your metabolism0 -

Wow, I thought this myth got quashed about the same time we discovered that the Earth was round.
Starvation mode?
When you say that "this will make your body stop burning calories" please remember that when living things stop metabolizing, living things die.0 -
Concur with what everyone here has already said. You know.. you could have easily Google'd a solution.
(speaking of useless post why am I even responding to this?)0 -

FALSE! If your body is constantly digesting food it is NOT burning body fat. Also such thing as starvation mode. I fast daily for 18 hours and am very lean. **** I eat 2000 cals between 8pm-10pm and go directly to bed. And then I don't eat until 2pm the next day. By your logic I should be a fast *kitten*. hmmmmmmmm.0 -
No, it wont make your metabolism go faster. The food you eat and your daily exercises should be your focus.0

I have no idea about the science behind it. I eat 5-6 small meals a day purely because I'm a picker, and I would otherwise sit and pick at bad foods, this way it helps me control my habits. Totally depends on the person but it works for me!0

Sorry , you are wrong on this.0 -
everyone is correct that it will do nothing for your metobalism. (almost everyone)
However it should be pointed out that it is helpful for those with a medical need. (keeping glucose levels in check and watching spikes for example) Not sure if the OP is in that catagory or not but thought i would point that out.0 -
It works for some people. Some people who perhaps gained weight by being all-day grazers get on with it because it's similar to their bad habits, but more controlled. Some people find it helps control cravings because they're eating more often, which can be partially down to blood sugar levels, and partially down to psychological "oh gee, it's been forever since I ate, perhaps I should have a bar of chocolate om nom nom" reasons.0

Personally, I have never found doing that helps, but if you feel that is what you want to do, try it and see if it works for you.0 -

Depends on each person...
I don't know why people don't understand that each body is different, and what may work for some, may not work for others.
Personally, I used to follow the "eat 5 to 6 meals a day to keep the metabolism up" but it never helped me... I always ended up being hungrier and eating more when I did that than now that I skip breakfast and eat two "big" meals and a snack... Does it mean that this works for everyone? No. It works for me and it took me months to find out (I tried the no carb, the 5 to 6 meals with no carb and it never worked out until I changed to this).
Also.. I call the starvation mode BS. What I've seen is that the people who are succesful are those who have learnt to listen to their bodies and eat accordingly... It doesn't matter if they eat 1200 or 2000 calories, 5 meals or 1 meal... Also, as long as you have a deficit and you eat balanced and fiting your macros, it's going to work out.
So good luck and try the 5 to 6 meals and if it doesn't work out, well, just change and try another thing that will work for YOU.0 -
I have no idea if it will speed up your metabolism. That was the "truth" for a long time, but now "they" are saying it's not true. Who knows. It makes some kind of sense to me that your body needs fuel to burn fat, but...
For me, it works to eat 4-5 times a day - every 4 hours or so. It keeps me from feeling like I'm starving and reaching for some calorie-dense snack or just eating everything in sight.0 -

Sorry but false. Eating more often will not make your metabolism faster nor will it result in more weight loss.0
