Hi,

Beginner question but I like to cook my meals in bulk. So when adding a meal recipe for something like healthy chilli in the meals section I have created the bulk 6 portion version but when I enter it as a meal in my diary I want to put it in as a sixth of that, if that make sense? 1 portion/ serving of the bulk recipe.

How would you do that? Thanks!!

You use the recipe builder, and tell MFP that the chili makes 6 servings. When you log the meal, you log 1 serving.

I think I might understand what you're asking. The best way is to let you know how I do it and see if that's what you need.

I enter in a recipe using the old recipe calculator (I like that one better). I enter the amounts used in the entire recipe. Then, when it says the amount of people it serves, I put the amount of times I plan to eat from the recipe. Like if I know that a homemade lasagna will last my husband and I six meals each, I put serves 6. Then when I log it, it automatically calculates that single serving. If I am greedy and take a double portion, I up the serving size to reflect that.

It's probably not as accurate as weighing, but it gets the job done...especially if you divide the dish into the equal serving sizes after you make it. Like if you cut the lasagna into six even pieces to ensure that you only eat a serving.
