Inches not pounds?

Hey all! Question....I'm a 5'7 female and I weigh 250lbs. I recently had a baby and once I was cleared for exercise I started working out again. Mostly cardio/aerobics at home. Also some walking with the baby during the day. I've been eating mostly Whole Foods. I do eat processed sometimes but I log all my calories and am doing a 1200 cal diet. I was steadily losing about 2 lbs a week which I expected. Then I started doing fitness blender weight loss program (they're awesome). It's an 8 week weight loss program. They mix up HIIT, cardio, strength straining, yoga/stretching. I've been doing that almost two weeks and haven't lost anymore pounds but have lost almost 2 inches. This is awesome! And I know it's bc I'm building muscle which is fine. Rather have lean muscle than fat. I am curious though at what point will the scale budge? Like I obviously can't stay 250 forever. Like I said they do strength training and do incorporate weights into a lot of their workouts but they also do a lot of HIIT and cardio. They break it up pretty evenly. Not complaining just curious how long do you stay the same weight before actually seeing the scale move some. Thanks!

It's not so much because you are gaining muscle but because you are retaining fluid. This is typical when you change your exercise routine. Give it three or four weeks.

Everyone is different, so no one can tell you when the scale will budge.

But, you sound like you are being realistic and doing well. Keep on keepin' on, and the scale will follow, eventually.

I would add that 1200 calories is very low, and you may find you can't sustain that low of calories through your entire weight loss.

I'm 5'9, 170 pounds, and losing on 2015 calories per day. If you find yourself starving, or low on energy, consider raising your calorie limit.

I say inches lost are better than pounds. Fewer inches means smaller clothes, easier to fit in roller coaster cars, and people notice. No one really notices a 2 lb scale lose, but 2 inches? That people notice.

Of course, weight loss is for health purposes, I'm not suggesting otherwise but from an immediate gratification standpoint I'll take inches over pounds any day.

Inches don't lie, but weight can.
