Does breastfeeding matter? Usually you have to take in more calories. Just want to make sure this is correct so I still produce milk. My son is 8 months old.

    yes, it matters!

this link has alot of great info on breast feeding and calorie counting in the second half

just go slow, make slow changes and monitor your supply, people who make huge changes tend to shock their system and supply may see a big decrease

I'm not so sure you need to take in more calories to breastfeed successfully. I'm still losing weight at 9 weeks PP (1kg away from pre-pregnancy weight) and my supply is better than ever because I'm feeding on demand.

I think it varies from person to person. I add 300 calories to support nursing my 9 month old on demand. He's on the low side for infant weight though so I feel I need to be cautious for him. I'm still losing weight while adding that extra 300 calories. I'd go with your instincts and then adjust as needed. If you're not losing weight, maybe add fewer calories for nursing. If you're losing too quickly or notice your supply dropping, add more calories. Good luck!
