I'm having to go for a family meal tonight and need to make a sensible choice! Can anyone advise on a reasonable low calorie option at the Indian?! Thanks in advance.

I'd say just avoid the dishes in a creamy sauce. Those are the calorie bombs - stuff like butter chicken, curries, tikka masala, korma. There should be some meat/vegetarian dishes in non-creamy sauce - if you can find something grilled like tandoori that's probably your best bet. And keep the rice portion small.

Look for things that are predominantly vegetable-based. Use the salady area to load up your plate before putting the wet stuff on top. Here's the thing though--- it's one meal. It will not make or break you.

I get baigan bjarta, which is eggplant and some spices and sometimes stewed tomatoes, and skip the rice.

I'd say just go and enjoy your meal with your family.
Pick up the plan tomorrow, do some exercise drink some water and forget about it.

I went for tandoori king prawns - dry cooked with onions, 1/2 portion of boiled rice and a small piece of naan. Really enjoyed it and felt it wasn't too calorific. I feel more satisfied with less food now than before.

Soup: Vegetable (frequently a lot of lentils, very tasty)
Entrees: Chana Masala, Dal Makhini, Tandoori Chicken, Mutter Mushroom, Aloo Palak Mutter (potato, spinach & green peas), bhindi masala (okra, peppers & onion), mushroom jalfrezi...anything vindaloo.
