Butter? Or Olive Oil?

Hello everyone.
I am new here and not sure whether this topic should go to General Diet and Weight Loss Help or Food and Nutrition.
I am on the progress of weight loss.
If I want to grill a chicken breast with butter, is that suitable for fitness purpose? Or I should replace it with Olive Oil?
Updated:
I do some research from internet, actually butter also got different type right?
Which one should I get?

Butter tastes better. Neither will make you fitter.
I bake my chicken with no fat1 -
Which one do you like more? You are the one spending calories on it, pick which one you feel is worth the calories.0

Butter is yummy0

I like both, depends what I am cooking. Used coconut oil this morning (with some veg, not chicken), which is also delicious.
For chicken I mostly like to roast with the bones and skin, and then you don't need to add anything. For chicken breast without skin I mostly do some kind of preparation that doesn't involve adding fat as part of the cooking process for the chicken (a tagine or something), but when I do I most often use olive oil. I use butter more for less fatty fish. Just personal preference.0 -

Any of them. Pure butter is nothing more than the fat solids from milk. Your only real choices are salted or unsalted and salted tastes better unless you are baking, then unsalted works better because you can control the amount of salt in your baked goods.1 -
I don't grill with any oil. It's not necessary. As far as butter vs olive oil, it depends on the application and flavor I'm looking for.1

Different fats for different purposes. I like butter for eggs, olive oil for cooking chicken fish. It just comes down to the smoke point and flavor of the oil or fat. I might prefer some for a better omega-3 vs omega-6 profile, but it's all fat in the end, and it all adds calories. None make you lose weight or gain weight simply by using them.1

What flavor do you want that day?
The only time it would make any difference is if you had specific health issues.0 -

I always use unsalted since I prefer to add salt separately (to taste) in all cooking, and never use butter other than for cooking.
Otherwise, OP, just see what's available to use in your market -- I almost bought some goat's butter out of curiosity at the green market today, but decided I didn't need any butter. It will all be pretty much the same calorie wise.0 -
If you are grilling chicken you could skip using butter or oil.0

When I cook something that needs fat, I usually like to mix half butter and half olive oil, or sometimes a little coconut oil or lard or schmaltz or tallow, it depends on the flavor I want. But if I were cooking on a grill, I don't think I'd use anything. I don't have a grill, but don't you just put the meat on it and cook with no added fat? Or do you need to oil it first?0

I use neither but im on the whatever you prefer the taste of wagon. Its unnecessary but if you like it for the flavor just be sure to track it and make it fit, Then eat whatever. Personally id prefer neither and then use a yummy sauce1

They're both 100% fat. Use the one whose flavour profile is best suited for whatever you're making. Use an amount consistent with your dietary goals.

Don't use butter nor oil. Use pan spray. Very low on calories and way better.0

I've read that butter is more stable at high temps and olive oil is not. It breaks down and produces harmful byproducts called AGEs at higher temps and said it should be an oil for salads or low temp sauteeing and not for higher temps for things like frying etc. butter, coconut oil, avocado oil and a few others were listed that were stable at high temps.0

Butter has marginally fewer calories, and your olive oil may have a low smoke point depending on its processing. Other than that, any type of fat is okay if you account for the calories. Which one do you think tastes better? That's a better deciding factor because it would make your diet more pleasant. If you decide you like the taste of olive oil, make sure you buy the processed kind not extra virgin.0
