Hi Everyone!
I am trying to find how much weight I should loose to look great and fit.
I have a large frame, my wrist are like 7.25 inches , 5.7 Height, now i am 198pounds.
According to certain web site I should be around 135-140, and I never been that skinny and I don't think it would even look healthy. I was thinking of loosing 20-30 pounds.
Anyone with a large frame and my height could share her experience?
Thanks

I would say that I am comparable to you and personably would not want to go much below 150 - but that depends a lot on how fit you are ect.
When I originally lost weight before my third child I was at 150 and happy with it - only 48.5 lbs to go (for me!).
Yikes!0 -
135-140 is a good number. Trust me, you won't look unhealthy. In fact, if you stick to weights and cardio you will find that 135-140 actually isn't too bad. Good luck0

While the BMI charts are certainly flawed, for most people they are decent. I would aim for the top of your BMI range (since you have a larger frame) and see how you feel at that point. It looks like that would be right around 160 lbs. for your height.0

I'm 5'8 and I'm aiming for 62-65kg (~136-143lbs). This way, I'll be right in the middle of the normal BMI (18.5-25 kg/m²).
I'm also aiming to lose 4" off of my waist, and since I do strength training, I'll gain some muscles and it'll make me heavier while making me look thinner.
So it'll be which ever comes first : 62-65kg or a 26" waist.0 -
im 5 foot 10, and my goal weight is 145-155... im at 160 now... i think you will find as you lose, that you will readjust your goals... my original goal was 185, then 175, then 160... now i have dropped it more... the closer you get, youll have a better idea on where you should stop
i also always assumed i was "large framed" since i could not touch my thumb to middle finger on my wrist... however, as i lost weight, i know can touch easily with a large gap between my wrist and fingers, and can actually touch my thumb to index finger around my wrist...0 -
I'm also 5'7" and have a medium to large build. I decided to go the BMI scale for our height - I believe the high end is 158 so I went with 157 to be within the range. I remember being in the 140's in high school but I wasn't as athletic as I am now so I'm giving some wiggle room for different body comp. Once I get to 157 I might try to lose a bit more.
Go ahead and set your goal wherever you want it. Height and weight aren't everything so you could by all rights be in the 170's and be perfectly fit and healthy. Or maybe once you get there you'll decide another 10-20 pounds would be doable and look ok. You're choice!0 -
What exactly constitutes a large frame?0

I do have a large frame, even after losing weight and only being 15 lbs overweight now. I am aiming for the top of the healthy BMI range, but suspect once I get there, another 10 lbs. would be perfect on me.
A large frame is fairly subjective. You can see lots of things online that give you guesstimates. One of which is measuring your wrist. But significantly overweight people underestimate the amount of fat that can be on their wrist. Most people say a wrist (for a woman) over 6.5" is a large frame. My wrist has gotten at least an inch smaller, but still is in the large range (just barely). I also have very wide shoulders, large hands and large feet. Despite being relatively short at 5'4". I swear, I think I should have grown at least 2 more inches and then my frame size would make more sense!0 -
I am 5'7" and some of the online tools to measure "frame" size put me in the larger category. My SW was 167 and my CW is 142. I could stand to lose a few more pounds but I am focusing on body composition more than what the scale says!0

Oh and in HS I weighed around 119 and didn't look unhealthy!0

What exactly constitutes a large frame?
Look up wrist sizes to frame size.0 -
I, too, am 5"7" and my wrist circumference is 7".... my goal weight is 165; I can't imagine being any smaller than that.... I still have a ways to go as I just started this journey a couple of months ago but for the first time ever, I've incorporated exercise into my life and it's all about a healthier lifestyle and not dieting! Very important distinction as I do not limit myself and say no I can't have a certain thing OR I'll crave it for ,like, ever....
With that being said, when I reach my goal, I will then determine how I feel and whether that will be a healthy weight for me as it does fall in a healthy BMI range.... [Already, my mother is saying, "don't get too skinny"] As you know, our stats may be the same but yet we may look a different size as everyone's makeup is so different. Ultimately, it's whatever you feel is best for you  We'll get there...0 -
Thanks to everyone for sharing )
I really tried to squeeze my fingers around my wrist and honestly even if i loose weight my fingers would barely touch each other.
So I guess I will set my goal weight to 170 to start and will see what it looks like I dont want to loose my curves anyways loll0 -
I would find out what your body fat % is and work on that number rather than the scale. Yes I know the doctors all love the BMI chart but they can't argue if you are out of range on the BMI but have a healthy body fat ratio. I am 192 pounds currently. My body fat is 40%. I want it to be 20%. According to the BMI I should be between 117-135. I was 135 pounds when I was 15 and eating only 5 ritz crackers and a banana a day. It's not gonna happen. But I do know I can get my body fat down. I also WAY prefer to look at the number 20% more than the 60 (pounds).0

Wish there were a fast-forward button for people with these topics. Just love to see when people realize they've accomplished what they thought was impossible. Successful weight/fat loss surprises so many. "large frame" "curvy" etc. Losing the fat will drop a lot of weight. The top end of BMI normal is not a particularly lean scenario for almost all women.0
