Bad day but staying under calories.

Feeling guilty as hell for eating all wrong today but still under my calorie goal. I feel like I'm doing ok but I know what I ate wasn't good but yet I ate what I wanted and stayed under goal. Sometimes I think I drive myself crazy.

You feel guilty for staying under calories? You will go crazy if you think you have to be perfect all the time by however you are defining it. Fueling your body shouldn't be something to feel guilty about.6

Are you going to eat perfectly every day for the rest of your life? No. Great job sticking to your calorie goal. Obviously nutrition is important as well, but in the grand scheme of things...eating a slice of chocolate cake for dinner a couple times per year isn't going to kill ya8

You're within your calories. That's not even close to a bad day.5

The nice thing about CICO and MFP is that if you set up your tracking, counts and everything properly, your feelings about what you eat, if you are within your goal don't matter. Let the process work and make any decisions on how it affects the process, not necessarily how you feel about them. That guilt is a trap - don't let it control your rationality.1 -
You're within your calories. I fail to see a problem.
Stop beating yourself up/the negativity over eating so-called "bad foods"- it's unnessasary stress and plain silly. There are no bad foods or good foods for weight loss, just bad habits. Beating yourself up over eating any food is a sure way to developing orthorexia. Food is food.
Eat the exact same way during weight loss as you would for the rest of your life. Over restricting leads to binges.
Calories are king for weight loss, but pay attention to nutrition. It's okay to have ice cream/chocolate/take out. It's food.3 -
If you're within your calories it's all good! Heck, i demolished 1/2 a bag of goldfish today and it fits so no harm no foul. Let yourself enjoy what you eat! Thats the beauty of CICO!2

Eating what you want and coming in under calories is a good day, in my book.2

I had two hot dogs, a baked potato, and plenty of cheese, butter, and sour cream.
Still under my calories. Good day.2 -
Tamales over here! Still under, still good1

You're looking at this from the wrong angle, OP. This is a successful day for you, not a failure. Even if you had gone over, it still wouldn't have been worth beating yourself up like this. Part of successful weight loss is learning to have a healthy relationship with food. Guilt and shame should never be considered appropriate emotions for fueling your body.1 -
Sat out on one of the few dry afternoons this spring supping beer and eating muchie mix. No guilt here.
As long as you eat nutritious food and hit your calorie goal most of the time, you will be set for life.
Cheers, h.
Been maintaining 7 years with that philosophy.1 -

The real thing of course! Carnival style.
It was actually whole grain cheddar blasted. So good.
My uncle has really eaten a carnival goldfish though. Traumatizing as a child!

Every day you're under your calories is a good day. There's absolutely NO problem with that.0
