How much time are you spending exercising?

Options
Over the past five years or so, I've tried to use my exercise bike for 1 hour a day. About 6 months ago I got a fitbit and have aimed for 10000 steps a day, which takes me an hour and a half to do. As well, I injured my shoulder a couple of months ago and now do half an hour of physio exercises per day. So in total, this adds up to 3 hours of exercise per day which I don't think I can keep up.

How much time are you spending exercising per day/week and what exercise are you doing exactly?

I think I need to cut back somewhere, I am thinking of forgetting about aiming for more steps, doing 30 to 45 minutes on my bike and keeping up with the physio which should be around an hour per day instead. Much more sustainable...

I spend about 5-7 hours a week at the gym. About 45 minutes of that time is dedicated purely to stretches and cooldowns. I do around 45 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of weights on the average day. I know I don't get 10,000 steps outside of my workouts (besides my running/elliptical). I don't worry about getting the 10,000. College has a sedentary lifestyle that comes with being forced to sit in class and do homework for most of the day so I don't have time to get in steps. I focus on the cardiovascular an calorie burning benefits of a compact hour and fifteen minutes of intense exercise rather than worrying about steps.

I work out three times a week and spend like 1 and a half to 2 hours working out. When I was following a program made by someone else, it was like around a hour. I do a upper/lower program plus abs and sometimes cardio. Need to do more cardio.

I log "Standing at desk, working" as exercise. Really. It's a MET 2.0 exercise and I stand at my desk all day. That's often 465 minutes logged exercising at 0.75 calories per minute.
At home I log another 45 minutes or so per day. Probably not today, but most days lately.

We have a dog who gets two walks a day, plus hikes once or twice a week, so about 20-25 mpw, or 1-1 1/2 hours a day. I run 30-40 mpw, or more if marathon training. I'm slow, so that ends up being 5-7 hours, usually 4 one hour runs plus a longer one. I do other exercise for an hour or so on my non-running days, either stationary bike, yoga, an exercise video or mowing the lawn.

8 to 12 hours a week on my bike, plus walks on my lunch break and occasionally after work. Ideally a hike on the weekend.

1 hour a day 4-5 days a week with 30 min cardio and 30 min weights. Other days I may go for a 45 minute walk...outside of that I try to get 8,000-10,000 steps a day from just being active.

Anywhere from 20 minutes to 24 hours per day ... depending on what's on the schedule. My exercise is very event-based so it varies a lot.

A little over 9 hours this week of actual exercise which includes a little over 36 miles of running/power walking/intervals. Average steps for the week is a little over 16,000 per day, and average calories is a little over 2,500 per day.

These are all averages from my fitness watch (Suunto Spartan Ultra) for this past week.

Around 4 hours per week lifting weights (3 sessions of >1 hour each) and anywhere from 2-4 hours per week of cardio. I do 20-30 min after each of my weight sessions and usually walk, run and/or bike a couple other days.

    Wednesday- Boxing class 1hr

Weekends - one day at the gym and one day doing yoga at home or hiking

I switch things around all the time. I average 7+ hr a week of doing something, anything- this usually includes 3 resistance or lifting sessions and 90 min yoga class. The rest- I will pick up a drop in class, do a workout at home, or go for a walk.
Right now inconsistency is my middle name.

I have never worried about getting 10000 steps. It is an arbitrary number which may be a good base if walking is your only exercise.

    Cheers, h.

I've read that standing burns more calories than sitting but when I have stood at work i have never thought to log it

Fitbit says I had 899 active minutes, last week. That's a bit more than 14 hours. My job is sedentary, but I work downtown and almost always have meetings in other office buildings that I can walk to. This can add 30 minutes a day. I also run a ton, which is a lot of my social life.

This is the record of the distances I have travelled (walking + cycling) and the time it took me each month.

    March 15: 489.8 km (304.3 miles) = 38 hours 4 min
    April: 491.94 km (305.6 miles) = 43 hours 6 min
    May: 361.81 km (224.8 miles) = 35 hours 50 min
    June: 569.53 km (353.9 miles) = 41 hours 53 min
    July: 230.7 km (143.35 miles) = 32 hours 45 min
    Aug: 211.3 km (131.3 miles) = 28 hours 8 min
    Sep: 306.7 km (190.6 miles) = 35 hour 2 min
    Oct: 441.82 km (274.5 miles) = 47 hours 43 min
    Nov: 660.21 km (410.23 miles) = 60 hours 41 min
    Dec: 499.91 km (282.8 miles) = 54 hours 56 min
    Jan: 864.79 km (537.35 miles) = 65 hours 36 min
    Feb: 470.53 km (292.4 miles) = 40 hours 39 min
    March 16: 917.73 km (570.2 miles) = 66 hours 13 min
    April: 417.83 km (259.6 miles) = 40 hours 23 min
    May: 267.09 km (165.9 miles) = 36 hours 10 min
    June: 552.1 km (343 miles) = 54 hours 48 min
    July: 709 km (440.5 miles) = 60 hours 41 minutes
    Aug: 775.9 km (482.1 miles) = 54 hours 52 minutes
    Sep: 371.3 km (230.7 miles) = 32 hours 20 min
    Oct: 649 km (403.3 miles) = 49 hours 46 min
    Nov: 403 km (250.4 miles) = 52 hours 16 min
    Dec: 511.05 km (317.55 miles) = 52 hours 2 min
    Jan: 741.9 km (461.0 miles) = 70 hours 3 min
    Feb: 600.5 km (373.1 miles) = 57 hours 30 min

    Apr: 1181.9 km (734.4 miles) = 76 hours 45 min

So it turns out that last month I exercised, on average, 2 hours and 34 minutes per day.
Of course, it didn't happen quite that way. :)
