Calorie Count vs Macro Nutrients

Hello all,
I am new to the community. Let me preface by saying that my calorie goal is very high due to the large amount of weight that I need to lose. Today I completed my first day of tracking all food intake. I noticed 2 things:
I ate much less calories that allowed. My %'s of macro nutrients are not aligned to the goals. I was under the goal in carbs. I was over the goal in fat.
Should I only be focusing on caloric intake?

Calorie intake first. Protein next. The others, let them do what they do, being over on fat isn't a problem, fat is essential for many bodily processes and fat doesn't make you fat.4
