Everything i have read said that you should lose 2.5lb to 3lb per week so that is a max of 12lb per week you should safely lose. I am currently 432 and started at 455, is a large amount of weight loss in the beginning normal for someone my size? I try to stay around 1500 to 1800 calories a day and that leaves me with around a 1000 plus calorie deficit based on what my fitness pal says i should be eating. I am only drinking water, dont smoke or drink; eating fresh fruits and vegetables and go to the gym every day for at least a half hour.
any advise?

When you first start losing weight you often have a few weeks with really large losses. Those are mostly water weight losses. In addition, the bigger you are, the bigger those initial losses usually are. With your starting weight, I would not worry that you have lost too much too fast. But now that you are a month in, your loss rate should slow a bit. A safe rate of loss is 1% of bodyweight per week. For you, 4-4.5 pounds per week would be in that zone.5

At your current weight, you will definitely lose faster, especially at first.
But, are you saying that you are eating 1,000 calories below what MFP is giving you? Because that number already includes the deficit. You should eat all of the calories the app is giving you or else you may be undereating.0 -

I forgot it did that, honestly i am happy with the amount of food i eat right now. If i ever feel like i am not getting enough i will increase my intake but i feel good right now.

You're kicking butt and taking names. Good work.
I'd say carry on, and be prepared for an off day. If you DO eat more than that - even double that - for a day, make it just one day and get back on plan. Your biggest risk is not continuing, it's having a small bump that leads you to stop. Around 1% loss/week is a good maximum, so it will slow as you go as well.0 -
I lost ~ 15 lbs per month for the first three months. But I don't recommend it as I don't want gallstones.
Read this https://www.niddk.nih.gov/health-information/health-topics/weight-control/dieting_gallstones/Pages/dieting-and-gallstones.aspx
It talks about the increased risk of gallstones from fast weight loss. Scared the *puppy* out of me.0 -
I wouldn't worry a whole lot about it like others have said. Normally it's water weight coming off in the first few weeks. I lost 19 lbs in the first 3 weeks of starting out and now I'm down to a safe 2-3 lbs per week loss. Listen to your body and you'll be fine.0
