What do you do when you want to give up?

I am at a weird place right now. I want to lose this weight and I honestly cannot fathom actually giving up. But I am having a hard time controlling my eating. So much so that I actually consider giving up.. it's a constant struggle. What do y'all do when you hit a wall?

Remember the time will pass anyway,do you want to look back and think, if I had kept going I would be so much better now?6

I struggle, emotionally. A lot of anger and frustration. There are a LOT of days where there is a tiny voice inside of me that wants to order 5 pizzas and go eat them while cry and flail my legs. What I do is not give in, because over the course of my life (and it's taken a long time), I realized giving up doesn't work. Emotional eating doesn't. Drugs don't work. Crutches don't work. Starving and purging don't work. Over exercising doesn't work. Crying doesn't work. Rage and violence doesn't work. The ONLY thing that works is keeping your chin up and faking it until you make it. Only YOU can determine YOUR happiness.
Hard work, conviction, and consistency are "simple" just not always easy. We all falter from time to time. We all succumb to stress. It's up to us to figure out how to deal with those situations in a way that we're not hurting anyone including ourselves. Then all you can do pick yourself up, stick your chin in the air, and soldier on into the next day as strongly as you can, because life is going to be throwing another curve ball at you at any moment and you have to be ready to deal with that one too.

We had Chinese lunch at work today. I ate a fair amount. Then someone opened a bag of Hershey's kisses. So, I promptly ate about 14 of them. I was afraid to log it. Another day blown. But I logged it anyway because I don't want to derail like I did last time. My kisses came to be only 300 calories. I fit that humongous lunch into my calorie count.
My advice is to just keep logging, even if all you are doing is achieving maintenance. Because that is a victory itself. If you gain, tell yourself that you have a 2-5 pound window, and need to get back down. Then after a month or so, make another major weight loss push. Then maintain 5# lower.5 -
I needed this today. Thank you, everyone. Seriously. ❤1

I have a couple of days off and then I get back at it. Every day is another chance to start again xx0

When I have days (or weeks) like that, I try to focus on doing one thing for my health. Just one. It can be eating a salad, going for a walk, looking at success photos, logging my breakfast, whatever. It's just a reminder that this life I'm building is made of small, easy steps. Usually that helps me get back on track2

I remember that it gets easier with time!0

I want to spend all the time also but cant because I would get in trouble. Think weight is a lot like money, you have to watch it or you get in trouble.

I guess most of us have those days/weeks where we just want to be indulgent. I've found that getting mad at myself, or depressed about it, or just deciding that just F it...those things don't work. I've recognized that I'm going to indulge sometimes and it's ok. It is part of my nature. I am NOT someone who can or will view food as just fuel. This frame of mind can slow the weight loss, sure, but if I'm concerned by a one or two day lapse, I'll add time on the stationary bike or put "dance pop" radio on Pandora and dance while I cook. Exercise doesn't HAVE to be time spent at a gym. Find some kind of movement that you enjoy and use that to burn the extra calories you consume. I've found that I'm much more successful when I don't place restrictions on myself that are not going to last for long. I hope you find your groove again and, as someone else commented, as long as you're not gaining again, you're succeeding.1

When I want to give up, I do. For a day or so. Usually it's a sign that I'm too stressed/need refeeding/am just plain hungry. I don't do multi-thousand calorie binges anymore (yay me!), so a day off from the plan doesn't do much damage.2

I will sometimes just indulge for a day or two and then I'll pull out the pair of pants that are in my goal weight size and remember why I'm doing what I'm doing.3
