I been exclusively breastfeeding for 6 months as of yesterday. I have lost 10 lbs so far but it seems to have reached a limit. I have changed up my exercises eating more calories, eliminating calories, nothing seems to be working. Anyone hang onto their weight until they were done breastfeeding?

When you breastfeed, your body hangs tightly onto your fat stores for emergencies. You cannot lose most of your excess weight without compromising your breast milk. Trust me, I nursed all four of my babies and the leftover weight didn't go anywhere until I stopped nursing. Don't worry about it or stress yourself (and your body by trying too hard to lose weight right now. Wait until you wean and you will get much better results.0

I've never had a baby but I plan on having one in the next few years so I've been looking into breast feeding. I've read on numerous websites that it is normal for your body to hang on to some of the weight while you are breast feeding. Once you stop nursing it should come off though.0 -
I breastfed both of my sons until they were 15 months. My oldest I held onto the weight (He was a winter baby and I was not very active). My youngest was a summer baby and I lost a lot of weight. I went from 150's post-pregnancy down to 130's by his one year birthday. That being said I went from pretty inactive to walking everywhere pulling a wagon with a three year old in it, carrying a new born in baby sling, and usually walking a 130 pound Irish Wolf Hound. I also did Weight Watchers with my second and did not with my first. Another huge difference was my eating habits between the two as well.
Your body definately does store for breastfeeding just as it did with your pregnancy. I know it is irritating, but I would try not to worry about. Try to not focus on the weight coming off, but the inches. Do you measure yourself weekly? You might be getting toned and losing inches even if you are not losing the weight. Also make sure that you are eating like you should. Your body will pull from you to support the baby, but by 6 months you are probably starting to supplement I am sure and nursing might start to lessen as baby is getting full by other foods. I plan on eating at my TDEE with our third child when I breastfeed, and not cut calories too much.0 -

With all 4 of my babies, it was always AFTER they weaned that I started losing weight. Quickly & easily!0 -
I lost alot in the first 3 months. than nothing. Breastfeeding did nothing for me. although I wasnt watching calories or exercising much,.
I waited until she weaned until I seriously got back into exercise and calorie tracking, I needed a regular routine back as thats what worked for me0 -
I didn't lose weight when I breastfeed. I also wasn't eating the healthiest or exercising. I'm sure if I did it consistenly....I would have lst weight.0

I couldn't lose weight while breastfeeding my eldest. Averaged eating 1800 calories a day. With my youngest, I couldn't lose weight while nursing and eating 1700 calories a day on average. Found this site, started eating MORE, and the weight pretty much just fell off.0
