Does anyone know if the Fitbit exercise calories added are accurate ? Should we be eating them ? I'm afraid to or it would lead to weight gain?

Some people (including myself) find them to be very accurate. Others have found them not to be accurate. The only way for you to know if they are accurate *for you* is to test it out.
If your Fitbit calories are accurate and if you're accurately measuring your calorie intake, you won't gain weight eating them back.
MFP is designed for you to eat activity calories back. If you're worried about them not being accurate, you can always try eating back a portion, seeing how your body responds, and then adjust if necessary.1 -
For walking they can be accurate, because that's what they were programmed for. I wouldn't expect much accuracy from a Fitbit for weight lifting or cycling or swimming or any type of exercise that's not "made of" taking steps.
You should log your food and exercise accurately and eat your exercise calories back. Pay attention to trends and adjust as needed from the data. Basically: trust but verify.1
