How much is too much exercise?

I am a very active person. I have 3 toddlers and am constantly up and after them, taking care of the house, etc. I go on one hour walks with them once a day, and I take them to the park and actively run after them. I also plan at least 40 minute intense workouts 6 times a week and run 5ks once or twice a week. I exercise a lot bc I have PPD and exercise is the cure for me (well, with proper nutrition and vitamins too). It's working for me.
However, I sometimes crave to work out more than 6 times a week and sometimes crave an extra intense workout a day. Is it ok to work out twice a day ON OCCASION?

I think it's all about what your body's telling you. If you really aren't getting enough try p90x doubles I doubt you could do that and really want more. I would also assume you're either eating a lot or would have to eat more to keep up with the calories burned.0

I run almost daily usually 3-10 miles and I lift heavy 3x per week, sometimes more so you can work out twice per day with no issues. It all depends on what your body is telling you and that you fuel it. r-balogh is right P90x doubles is tough and might work better for you!0

Sometimes I feel done with just a 30 minute workout but today I feel energized by them and feel like putting time Ito myself, Kwim? I just don't want to overtrain.0

Yes I agree it's all about what your body can take. It will tell you if it's too much. I tend to over exercise but I really love and enjoy it so I do it 2x a day sometimes. In a typical year I will usually exercise 400-425 times. But there are days when I can just tell my body and mind isn't into it and I for the most part listen. So I don't think there is a magic number here. Everyone is different and jet listen and pay attention to what your body is doing. If you are working out as much as you are then it will be critical to focus on recovery and stretching as I find that really helps when I train a lot. Good luck!0
