Thoughts on the "Garmin connect calorie adjustment"

I'm curious about the science behind this adjustment. What do you all think of it?
I walked 17,000 steps yesterday at work. My feet are exhausted, but I wasn't "on a walk", I was just pacing back and forth waiting for people. I don't feel like that low heart rate activity burned 1500 calories, as mfp has calculated.

What are your stats?
Sex
Height
Weight
Age
Also, what activity level did you set in MFP?
I'm male, 240 lbs and 6'. I would get around that if I walked 17K steps.0 -
even if you just sort of pace back and forth? I feel that the Garmin accurately tracks true activities, so I think my stats are accurate. I'm female, 157 and 5'6", so I have a lot less mass than you.0
