So I've been (mostly) maintaining my weight for the past 5 months. I've gotten a slow creep in my weight by a couple pounds. Not overly worried about it but I wanna cut back and get my weight back down and also maybe lose a few additional pounds. All those weeks I was maintaining I was eating between 1600 and 1750 calories and going to the gym at least 4 times a week. I wear a fitbit and I was averaging around 10000 steps a day.
I also tried to log as best I could (yes weighing my food) and estimating as best as I could while eating out this whole time but have let myself enjoy more the foods I cut back on while losing which is how i think my weight has slowly been creeping up.

Now that I'm trying to lose again I lowered my intake to 1550 calories for a deficit of around 250 cals but I have ZERO energy. Like I cannot get myself to workout and when I do go I end up cutting it short because I'm so tired. My deficit isn't to much in my opinion and I'd like to keep being active.
I'm three weeks into my calorie decrease and have been successfully averaging 1550 calories.

What I want to know is if maybe I should try following a macro split and maybe trying to hit a higher number of carbs or something for energy? Or do I increase my calories? (even though my deficit is small) or do i just power through and go with mind over matter and just hate my workouts... Lol. Or since it's only been three weeks do I just need more time for my body to adjust?

Also I've tried pre workout, caffeine, eating more complex carbs and nothing seems to work. Im just constantly so tired! The only thing that seems to work and give me great immediate energy is when I eat something REALLY HEAVY in carbs and sugar... Like a giant cookie.. Or donuts..which obviously is not gonna do anything positive for my weight loss when there so high calorie and wipe out my deficit even if I do end up getting in a great workout after.

Im just not sure where to go from here and was wondering if anybody else had overcome this issue.

Thanks. :)

Why are you so tired? And continue to eat carbs (like healthy carbs from things like pasta), drink coffee and take a nap for a hour or so before you work out.

Are you getting enough sleep? Drinking enough water? Those are always the first questions I ask when my energy dips.

Has something changed in your life to make you so tired? Do you get regular sleep? Do you have any health concerns or take medications that could be causing this?

Do you take a multivitamin? Vitamin/mineral deficiency can cause exhaustion. Check your vitamins and the foods you are consuming and make sure you are getting enough iron, magnesium, potassium, vitamin B12 and folic acid.

Beyond that, I would suggest trying to get more sleep and if a cookie gives you energy, consider making some oatmeal peanut butter cookies or protein balls or something like that. You can eat dense carbs etc. without them being loaded with added sugars and excess calories. There are lots of recipes online for stuff like this, so maybe consider that?

Is there a way to look at your diary from when you were losing before? Maybe find out what was successful back at the beginning. Personally, the lack of sleep and stress zap energy. Also, mixing up your gym routine may give a little more motivation and you may not notice the energy level as much. You can do it :).
