My method for getting motivated

Hi! My name is Levi, i'm 20 and a Nutrition and Food Science Major at Chico State. While my situation may be different than yours, I hope you can pull aspects of my struggles and triumphs and apply them to your own life.
First off, I was born with a genetic disease called Cystic Fibrosis (CF). It is a disease that affects mainly the lungs, digestive system, and the reproductive system. The problem it causes is the overproduction of thick mucus due to lacking sodium channels. The thick mucus harbours bacteria and causes infections in the systems noted above. People who suffer from CF have a hard time gaining weight and keeping it on which can lead to many other problems.
Growing up I ate anything and everything I wanted. I had the mentality that i'd never gain weight, so what's the point of watching what I eat? My assessment was very wrong. My sugary diet put me at a higher risk for CF related diabetes which would make my life even busier than it was before. Once I got into college I decided enough was enough and so I slowly began incorporating these aspects into my life until they became what I see as apart of me.
#1. I got a job. For all the younger ones reading this who may not have a job yet and find themselves browsing social media constantly or constantly thinking/saying to themselves, "i'm bored," I sincerely extend the advice of looking for a job. My first job was cleaning dog kennels as well as assisting dog trainers part-time at a dog boarding/training facility. I was 16. I learned so many life lessons outside of dog training or kennel management and the pay was simply a bonus for me. Remember, when looking for a job at a young age you get the benefit of being picky and really searching around for a job you would like. If you don't have the qualification for such job, ask about volunteering!
#2. I asked for help. Every expert was once a beginner and although it may seem embarassing to ask people for help, I guarentee 9/10 people will have no problem explaining and showing you how to do exercises. I may have gotten lucky in that the person I asked was my dad (who has an extensive knowledge of bodybuilding exercises) but I also find myself even now asking people about exercises i've never seen before. Do it once and I guarentee it gets easier everytime, plus you can make friends in the meantime
#3. I seriously minimized my exposure to Social Media. I was finding that I would waste away my day scrolling past the same posts for no reason on Facebook. I would always be angry about some article somebody posted or a video someone shared. Life is too short to be overly concerned with minute beliefs or concerns of people who you probably don't even know or won't readily affect you. I still browse instagram, because I find it to be much more of a positive influence than Facebook (that's just an opinion of mine though). If you find yourself in the same boat I was, maybe consider eliminating some of the negative outlets that are finding their way into your day.
#4. I found God. I grew up on religious morals but knew little of any religion or their teachings. I was a very rigid-minded person when somebody brought up religion and would often disregard what they had to say. Towards the beginning of the my fitness journey I met a lovely young woman who would change my entire world and lead me towards a walk with God that I have continued on with for almost a year now. I found that I began to see purpose in all of my actions, and began carefully weeding out behaviors that would put me in negative states of mind (I still have my struggles, don't get me wrong, no human is perfect).
All of these aspects helped motivate me to begin and continue on my fitness journey. I'm beginning to see the results of the work I have put it and that alone is another reason I continue on my journey. All of this may seem like big revelations that completely changed the person I am, but in reality it's been a slow and steady process of becoming who I want to be, not what others (including the medical community) think I should be.
