If you had a friend invite you to a ceremony like this, would you attend?

If there's a party with booze afterwards then yes. If it's one of those 'church' type receptions, Eff NO.1 -

I just can't help imagining Mark Ch. 10 on its head:
"For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to [himself], and the [one] shall [remain] one flesh. Therefore what God has [not] joined together, [any] human being [may] separate."

Marriage is a ridiculous concept to me.3

Made my day, too, and made me think of this, from Tom Waits' album Nighthawks At The Diner...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94h3JEC9db0
"For all the bachelors out there tonight
Yeah, for anybody who's never whistled this song
Or maybe you whistled it but you lost the sheet music
Um...this is um...well actually
I don't mind going to weddings or anything
As long as it's not my own, I show up
But I've always kinda been partial to calling myself up on the phone and asking myself out, you know?
Oh yeah, you call yourself up too huh?
Yeah, well one thing about it, your always around.
Yeah I know, yeah you ask yourself out, you know, some class joint somewhere.
The Burrito King or something, you know. Well, I ain't cheap, you know.
Take yourself out for a couple of drinks maybe.
Then you'd be some provocative conversation on the way home.
And park in front of the house, you know.
Oh yeah, you smoothly put a little nice music on
Maybe you put on like uh, you know, like shopping music
Something that's not too interruptive, you know.
And then uh slide over real nice and say,
"Oh I think you have something in your eye."
Well maybe it's not that romantic with you but Christ I don't know, you know
I get into it you know.
Take myself up to the porch, take myself inside or maybe uh
Or may get a little something in a brandy snifter or something.
"Would like you like to listen to some of my back records? I got something here"
Well usually about 2.30 in the morning you've ended up taking advantage of yourself.
There ain't no way around that you know.
Yeah, making a scene with a magazine, there ain't no way around.
I'll confess you know, I'm no different, you know.
I'm not weird about it or anything, I don't tie myself up first.
I just kinda spend a little time with myself.
So this is kind of a little anthem here...
All my friends are married
Every Tom and Dick and Harry
You must be strong
If you're to go it alone
Here's to the bachelors
And the Bowery bums
And those who feel that they're the ones
Who are better off without a wife
I like to sleep until the crack of noon
Midnight howlin' at the moon
Goin' out when I want to, comin' home when I please
I don't have to ask permission
If I want to go out fishing
And I never have to ask for the keys
Never been no Valentino
Had a girl who lived in Reno
Left me for a trumpet player
Didn't get me down
He was wanted for assault
Though he said it weren't his fault
Well the coppers rode him right
Out of town
(chorus) selfish about my privacy
As long as I can be with me
We get along so well I can't believe
I love to chew the fat with folks
And listen to all your dirty jokes
I'm so thankful for these friends
I do receive
(chorus)"1 -

You're thinking too hard.
I simply took a quintessential reading from a Christian wedding ceremony and manipulated it into a justification for this ridiculous idea of marrying one's self.
Though in my opinion . . .Gimsteinn1 wrote: »Oh and if you meet a someone and have sex, are you cheating on yourself and would that be a reason to file for a divorce?
Anyone who follows through on this self-marriage idea deserves to have half their possessions taken from them.0 -

Can I ask you out on a date while you're dating yourself? Is that cheating on yourself?
@Cerealsensei I won't tell my other persona if you don't. What she doesn't know won't hurt her. The psych ward only allows visitors from 2:00 - 4:00 on Tuesdays. Will that work for you?0 -
Nothing to see there, and move along.
It is a political statement and not anything serious, so no. I would not attend.1 -

it completely hinges on the answer to "will there be an open bar?"1 -
