Hi

I just have a question. I usually have fruit for breakfast but it seems to take up all my sugar points I never realised there was so much sugar in apples and pears etc - should I stop eating fruit for breakfast?? I usually have it with some yogurt and it fills me up until lunch.

Any advise or input would be appreciated

Thanks

I guess the only thing I will say here is that I don't count fruit as sugar on the site because I believe they are talking about refined sugar and fruit is natural sugar. I eat the recommended daily dose on Canada's food guide without blinking an eye.

Unless you're diabetic, like I am, fruits have more benefits than not. I know I don't eat a lot of added simple sugars, but was often over on my sugar. I ended up changing that macro to fiber tracking. I go over on fiber every day, but that's a good thing.

Some fruit do have higher sugar ( which turns into carbs, which is what I count) than others. A medium size banana has 27 carbs, grapes have 1 carb in each/ If I want grapes, I freeze them first. It slows down the rate I eat them. An apple may have the same carb content as a banana, but it takes more effort to eat it. Takes longer. So, I feel more satisfied.

Good luck. I'd change the sugar to fiber, and just watch your overall calories.

That's why I don't track my sugar intake. I tend to eat a lot of fruit and not much added sugar or processed foods with sugar, so I don't find the need to worry about it or watch it.
