Honestly, I would return it and buy a food scale. There is absolutely no reason to do a "juice cleanse". You are not "cleansing" your. Lady of anything.11 -
I have known people (housemates) to do a juice cleanse, lose 10lbs, and then put it all back on within 2 days, plus more.
It doesn't teach you about portion sizes, and it definitely doesn't "cleanse" anything... I agree with elphie754 above. Buy a food scale instead.5 -
You will be hungry and miserable during the "cleanse" and then suddenly feel GREAT when you start eating again and misattribute that to the cleanse (when in reality, your body is just extremely happy to finally get some effin' food and fiber again).7

not to mention fat and protein...
Juices tend to be rather lacking in those two.4 -
Not to crush your happiness. Cleansing is a racket/fad and nonsensible. you body takes care of cleansing anything it needs. we aren't filled with toxins. just doesn't work like that. weight loss when reducing calories in the first week is mostly due to water weight and it will just come back.
weight loss is a long term commitment not a quick fix.1 -
Everyone else has pointed out that juice cleanses don't do what they say, so the horse is dead and I won't beat it anymore.
However, juice is amazing! I can't wait until I'm reunited with my juicer next week. My favorite combo is carrot lemonade on a warm summer night. The carrot provides a nice sweetness. I've also added in some beet a few times, but they're so messy to cut.
I don't drink [alcohol], so I make a lot of really nice mocktails with my juicer. I wouldn't necessarily return it just because cleansing is nonsense. Cleanses give juicers a bad name.5 -
Enjoy your homemade juices full of vitamins.
But do not turn it into a "cleanse". You'd basically be drinking sugary vitamin water for every meal and your body will feel absolutely miserable. You NEED protein and fat - that's all there is to it.
There is nothing that sugar-water will magically "cleanse" from your body. Your organs do a wonderful job of cleansing on their own!0 -
1. ur liver n kidney detox ur body everyday (but sometimes they dont work too well because we keep intaking highly processed foods n chemicals n dont give them enough proper nutrients n vitamin)
2. juice has next to no fiber so all the sugar goes directly into ur blood stream n causes a big spike in blood sugar n hence triggers insulin to combat the situation by trying to made fat. thats the reason the weight that people who are on a juice cleanse lose is not fat but water n it will come back quicker than ur first big mac after the cleanse
3. ur body might have less toxins during the cleanse but not because the juices cleansing ability but rather the fact that u didnt eat anything, good n bad.
4. it is quite harsh for ur body to go without fat n protein for days
conclusively, it is ok to drink juices once a while but it is more harmful than good if u drink it all day long whether it is with or without food.
PS guys, feel free to correct anything thats incorrect0 -
Some people really like home made juices - if this is you,OP, then you will get lots of use from your juicer.
But no need for a cleanse or any such nonsense.
Just enjoy juices as part of an overall balanced calorie appropriate diet.0
