My fitbit keeps showing "outdoor biking" whenever I walk long distances instead of just showing walking. Anyone know why and what i can do about it? Had it for a few weeks now and seems like it's gotten pretty accurate other than that

Are you talking about when you enter workouts?0

Which version is this? I have a Charge and I've never noticed ? (walking is my primary form of exercising)0

HR Charge 20 -
Here's a pic for reference. Both times it shows "outdoor bike" I was just walking with my daughter pushing her stroller0

oops sorry having technical difficulty lol0

put your fitbit in your pocket next time you're pushing the stroller. I know this defeats the purpose of having a wrist worn tracker. But is the work around I've read people use to overcome the same issue you're having.3
-
It does the same thing for me all the time. It's the angle of my arm holding the dog lead. My burn has never been out much though so I don't sweat it.
You can delete the entry and manually add it if it bothers you.2 -
Maybe it registers as bike because your arms are elevated and frozen while you continue to move? I can see how holding stroller bars could register the same as bike handle bars.0
-
It's because you're pushing the stroller. I let my arm with tracker swing when I walk with the stroller. I have a charge 2 and you can choose the workout before you start.1
-
Mine suggests outdoor bike if I forget to take it off while home alone.1

Yeah that makes sense0 -
When i walk/run for c25k it decides im doing aerobics. I just laugh. At least its tracked it. A previous tracker that i returned would often fail to track anything when i hiked for over an hour0

I had the same thing when I was walking pushing a stroller. For a while, I'd manually correct it to walking just because it bugged me. But the calorie burns were right and I got credit for the steps, so eventually I stopped caring.
As others have said, it's because your arms aren't swinging. If it bothers you, your can push the stroller one-handed and leave the arm with the FitBit to swing naturally.1 -
I noticed this for the first time the other day, and I'd only been driving. I deleted it.0

I don't have an HR and have to manually enter all activity other than steps. If I "track" current activity I choose the activity type when I start and it never changes it. This is not something I've seen0

Get in your app settings and delete the shortcut for outdoor biking... then it will default to walk. I only keep the shortcuts for things I actually do.
Or at least I would think so? I mean, it doesn't register my grocery store runs as 'outdoor biking' either.2 -

I've become adept at pushing my cart with one handI'm rarely in the grocery store for longer than 15 minutes, so i haven't yet had a chance to see what fitbit registers it as.

My husband finds that he generally doesn't get credit for his grocery store steps. (He's the one pushing the cart while I chase the three year old.)0 -

Instead of pushing I pull the cart behind me with one hand while my Fitbit arm swings1 -

I've also gotten outdoor bike ride when I've had a bumpy cart. Generally if I'm pushing something I'll stick my Fitbit in my pocket.

Mine puts it as different things sometimes. It said I was doing sports one time when I was actually working in my garden lol. I didn't think it mattered though?? Steps and calorie burn would still be ok??0
-
Mine tracks jogging in my house as elliptical if I forget to tell it I am doing a walking workout. Just set it to a "walk" workout and it shouldn't change it.0

I only do if there's nobody in my way and I don't have to stop all the time. I'd say I get about 500-1000 steps for a grocery store trip.0 -
My charge hr 2 does not register any steps if I keep that have on the handle- so I also push it one-handed whenever I can :-)0
-
You can manually change. When I go for a walk on my break I always select workout to calculate my steps.0
-
yep my flex 2 logs a bike ride if i am pushing the pushchair so I put it in my pocket....problem solved.
it also logged that id done a 26min swim........id actually been putting washing away lol0 -
I have a Charge 1 and it started doing that too a few months back when I was driving the car.
You can (de)activate the exercises you want it to automatically detect. So I've done that with outdoor bike. I never ride a bike so I don't need it to log it.0
