Fasting

Hi everyone
So Ramadan is coming and for those if you who don't know what it is its basically a month where we fast for approximately 15 to 16 hours per day we do it to appreciate gods fortunes that he gave us and to have compassion with those who might not have been fortunate enough and feel what they feel the point is during that month we'll have one meal per day so what i want to ask is do you think i should lower my calorie intake during that month or just eat my 1600 calories during that one meal ??

Why can't you split it into two meals?

One meal? Never heard of someone doing that on ramdan. People usually break-fast then eat second meal (optional) and last one is Sehri (dinner) but having one meal while fasting sounds too hard to do, but if you are going to do it, consume the same calories you usually would do and you might EVEN consume more so that you can stay full and not hungry for the next 24hours until the next meal.

A lot of people at my gym fast for Ramadan, just remember to tone back your workouts accordingly :)

Ramadan meals are pretty heavy. I always get invited by my Muslim friends and I can assure you, you will be able to eat 1600 calories easily, if not more, and that's not counting suhoor.

Don't reduce your calories. You are already at the lower edge of what is acceptable for a man. Any lower than that and you are looking for health troubles, especially when you pair that with Ramadan fasting. You don't want to celebrate Eid looking sick and pale.

I wouldn't lower calories, and probably would break it into two meals, personally, as others have noted.

It might be a good opportunity to try out the one meal a day form of IF, however.

I fast during ramadan, I have no problem getting 2000 calories in 8 hour window. Anything over 2000 becomes difficult to fit in, at least quality calories.

2000 calories in 8 hours hard? Lol.

2000+ calories in one meal is easy with the right food. There is no difference in the quality of calories as it is a unit of energy.

What? Huh? You're supposed to have at least two meals, iftarr (breakfast at sunset) and suhoor (before sunrise), you can also eat how ever many meals you want in between these two times. I'm going into maintenance, but I don't have any of these cultural high calorie, stomach acid inducing Ramadan foods that Pakistanis and Arabs have. **Take no offense I've lived in the Middle East and spend a Ramadan with my in laws, the food is great, but if you don't eat enough yoghurt to balance out all the acidic food, you;ll be sorry**
