Fasting for surgical procedure- your thoughts?

I will be undergoing a surgical procedure as an outpatient tomorrow, and have been told that there is a significant risk of nausea/vomiting immediately after awaking from the general anesthetic.
Because of this, I wish to reduce my intake today, but eat something nourishing. I'm thinking a few scrambled egg whites, a green apple, and a tablespoon or 2 of nut butter for supper.
Has anyone had a similar experience with an anesthetic recently? Does this sound reasonable?

Food should be out of your stomach in no more than 6 hours and most surgeons request that you have nothing to eat after midnight except clear fluids anyway. No need for fasting the day before and also if you are going to vomit it will happen regardless of whether you ate or not. There are always stomach secretions that will come up. Nausea and vomiting after anesthetic is common.0
