Anyone upped their water intake and lost weight? I have stopped drinking diet soda as of Friday and I am trying to consume about 2 litres of water a day in the hope that this will indirectly help me reach my goal.

Unless drinking water stops you drinking or eating calories that would otherwise put you over you goal, no, it won't help with weight loss.
Being hydrated is important, and a certain level is necessary - you get hydration from various food and liquid sources.2
