Hi guys
I'm Emma and I'm trying calorie counting after battling with my weight for a long time. I have suffered with binge eating and I am trying to overcome that and I have about 5 stone to go.

I am currently on 1400 calories a day and I have been told this community is really helpful so I thought I would give it a try.

Thanks
Emma xx

    Hi Emma!

First of all: Well done for taking the first steps to overcome binge eating, that's probably your biggest hurdle and I can't imagine it was easy to admit. Are you following any sort of diet/cutting out any food groups, or simply trying to do it through calorie counting? And exercise: Planning to do any?

I would say this community is very helpful! I've gotten tips on exercise, and in some groups they focus on equally important things such as Non-Scale Victories (NSV), or have regular weigh ins. You can learn all sorts about weight loss and what to be mindful of (muscle is denser than fat).

I would recommend you take measurements throughout (every 2-4 weeks if you really want to see difference, or every week if you can handle only minor changes). In weeks where the scales don't necessarily move as much, you may just find you have lost a centimetre around your waist/hips/belly/legs/arms. That will then help you realise that you haven't done badly.

And if you do decide to exercise alongside the calorie restricted diet, do look up your BMR and TDEE and adjust your MFP calorie figure if need be. MFP sometimes suggests a somewhat very low goal. In my case it told me 1400-1500 cals to lose a lb a week, but I am exercising a lot and have set my own target of 1700 cals. I'm still averaging a lb a week in weight loss.

    Good luck!
