What is unhealthy? Just stop whatever you are doing that is unhealthy. Are you eating too much? Are the snack foods low in nutrition? Is eating small meals often making it difficult for you to stick to your allotted calories? Or what?2

I find that planning out my food for the day with the food diary here really helps with that. I put in my meals, and then look at. Y calories and macros to determine what snacks will fit well that day. I tend to be somewhat low on fat, so I'll usually end up with some almonds as a snack, or Greek yogurt if I need protein.
It helps keep me from mindlessly grabbing whatever is handy to snack on, and tracking this way has allowed me to think about how I feel after eating certain foods. I've learned that too many carbs at breakfast leaves me hungry, and that I need to eat bigger lunches to avoid afternoon snack overloads. I would recommend trying it out for few weeks and see if it makes a difference. It also helps cut down on snack stuff in the house, knowing that I am generally going to need the food to have certain macro ratios eliminates a lot of snack choices, and that also helps keep things in check.2 -
What are you doing that causes you to snack? Are you watching TV, bored, emotional, etc.?1

Have some go to snacks that are not "junk food" because they tend not to be as tempting. My favorites are an apple or a handful of almonds.1

1) Realize your snacks are unhealthy
2) Figure out WHY they are unhealthy (too many calories, for example)
3) Replace with suitable snack (For example, Little Debbie snack cake---> Protein bar) May require research.
4) Determine any psychological baggage (boredom, anger, triggered by environment, comfort eating, etc.). Address baggage (Boredom eating --->walking dog, take water break, do a crossword puzzle)
5) Be sure to log, notice patterns, judge how your changes are working.3 -
Get rid of unhealthy snacks. If they are not available then you won't eat them. When I want a snack I stand at my pantry looking at MFP and comparing all the snacks to see which one is the best option according to what I have already eaten that day.4

Log them in mfp first, look at how they effect your diary, how many calories you will have left, etc.1
