Use the things you like, in the required amounts.

Personally I use protein powder, full fat milk, peanut butter, oats and banana.

Protein powder + water + bottle + shaking motion. Repeat as many times as you need to hit your protein goals.

Add whipping cream to your shakes :)

You don't really need it to be protein to gain weight either. Carbs and fats will do the trick.

Ya like some people mentioned above, if you mix your protein with milk instead if water then the calories really jump up. Throw in some peanut butter or Oatmeal and your Definetly getting up there with calories.

There are also weight gaining proteins you can use. My favorite is ON's pro complex gainer. It has 650 calories when mixed with water and close to 1000 when mixed with milk. Best part is that it only requires 1 scoop unlike every other competitor gaining protein. They usually require 4 huge scoops!

Either way, you want to try to get most of your calories from actual meals and use the protein shake as just a means of getting you up those last needed calories to put you over your needed calories to maintain

One of my favorites, courtesy of Alan Aragon:

14 oz room-temperature or cold coffee (make this the night before)
    1 frozen banana
    1.5-2 cups ice
    2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
    2 scoops chocolate protein powder
    1 oz. walnuts

    How to make it:
Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until you hit your desired consistency. If you want a thicker shake, use 2 cups of ice.

    Calories: 565
    Protein: 47g
    Carbs: 53g (Fiber 11g)
    Fat: 22g

    Sodium 401 mg
    Potassium 1062 mg
