It depends, you can go to Labdoor.com and review. They've done testing of quality vs value. I would hazard a guess that it's true that a large percentage do have fillers etc, but labdoor is probably the best place to identify the decent ones.
If you want to play it safe, you could always go to a bulk store and get straight up whey isolate.6 -

My Protein is one of the best, and gets great reviews at labdoor.
I buy the unflavoured whey. I ordered 2.5kg tonight and received 29% off with their current deal.2 -
You'll tend to find more fillers in "weight gainers"4

Whey isolate or casein are the best options.2
-
I add flavoured whey to my kids
Porridge, they love it.1 -

Casein works better in recipes too.1 -
As mentioned, if you avoid "gainers", it's fairly easy to find good quality protein powder. Unflavored is the way to go if you're looking to avoid artificial sweeteners and flavors.2

I use Quest.0

Their powders are delicious, but at about $20 per pound, I can't justify it. It's a blended protein, not gold infused cocaine.10 -
Avoid gainers and you'll be fine. GNC brand is 20$ for 2lbs I believe and I like it a lot!0

That is exactly why i havent tried PEScience. I hear really good things but its almost $20/lb.
And i recently got MP for $8/lb from Amazon and it taste great.2 -
Jarrow unflavored is good stuff, no crap in it, no artificial stuff, etc. Not the cheapest but some of the flavored powders have a lot of artificial junk in them.1

It's always best to read the labels and know what each ingredient means. I used to be a big Optimum Nutrition fan before I began reading and understanding ingredients. Now I use Orgain and although I know there's still better proteins out there, I like the taste of this better and it's reasonably priced.
What ingredients didn't you like on ON?
Overall, it's a fairly good protein powder, at least according to the test done by labdoor.com0 -

My guess is the sucralose. or one of the other flavor ingredients.0 -
I use MyProtein 30g protein daily I supplement. I am not a big meat eater so it is an ideal way for me to boost my protein daily. I get the chocolate peanut butter tastes like a Reese's cup. I view it like a dessert. I order it online reasonable and it works for me. I use a whey isolate. Protein powers are a viable option for people that struggle to get adequate protein either due to choice (vegan/vege) or preference.1

I have Grass-fed Whey Concentrate. Grass fed is better for the immune system so I read. 100 dollars CAD for 11 pds. And it even has a higher leucine content than the grass-fed isolate! Just another bro tip.0

The one I mix into my yogurt happens to be casein and it works well for that.
The other one I use regularly (for drinking straight) is higher in calories, but nowhere near the higher calorie ones and tastes excellent.
(Depending on what you are trying to avoid - be it extra calories, certain ingredients; and how you plan to consume it, optimal choices will vary)0 -

I use the grass-fed whey as well. It is a little more expensive than regular whey powders but it doesn't have junk in it. Amazon has a few that are good, I like Julian Bakery.2

Is it canadianprotein.com by any chance?
Yes! Hahaha!0 -
I love the products from Naked. Really great casein powder. Kinda spend but worth it0

I take Pure WOD beef isolate- 3 ingredients. Beef, cocoa powder, stevia. Tastes like chocolate ice cream. ❤️ They have vanilla, too.0
-
I use Bodylogix. I'm currently using the standard whey protein powder but I'm also thinking of giving their whey isolate a try.0
-
I use Yep, It's Vegan - whey has become a little rough on my stomach.1

labdoor and consumerlab don't seem to agree on a lot of products. I actually switched off of MyProtein based on consumerlab's studies. I hadn't heard of labdoor before. Thoughts?0

I've seen them both. I read all of the reports but one that might be a bit higher than another doesn't necessarily mean one is bad. Each have their own criteria and rank accordingly. However I would say that a good portion, at least a majority if not 2/3 of protein supplements are fully acceptable outside of subjective taste. For me it mostly comes down to price, taste, and availability. I am not going to pay double for something that is only slightly better.0
