for fat chicks in gym

I've seen a few posts recently about people, mostly women, who are intimidated in the gym because they are out of shape, fat, whatever. When I started going to the gym, I felt the same way. I was 58 and 205 or more pounds. So out of shape I could not get up off the floor. I made a lot of noise when lifting, I gasped through cardio. I wondered sometimes if I disgusted the slim young things or the buff guys tossing the big weights. Mostly I tried to stay out of their way, put my weights away and wipe down machines. I focused on my workouts. I did not lose weight quickly and I still have a long way to go. One day I was doing cleans with a challenging weight. I was almost done and was struggling about to give up. One of the buff guys walked over and said, "come on you can do it. I'll spot ya" I did it and thanked him. As he walked away,he said, "you have a lot of heart." I think of him often when I get self conscious or struggle. So don't give up on the gym because you aren't as fit as others. Keep working out so you can be the best you. And those of you who give support or even a little smile or hi, thank you.

I use to fill the same way, embarrassed to use the machines because when you looked around all you notice are the ones who are in shape. I remember I was on the dip assist machine at L.A. Fitness when I was getting tired. The guy right in from of me was doing them on a different type of machine and he seen me struggle to finish. He was like I got you and he did them with me until I finished. I think it's all what you allow your mind to think and feel. Now I'm more eager to use the machines because I don't think people really pay me that much attention....and it felt good that he was fine too!!
