Hi everyone pretty new to MFP and still getting used to it. I have fairly active job and I like lifting but I haven't followed any set programme as such and still a beginner. I am on second week of C25k and 5x5 and I am wiped out! I'm increasing weights as suggested and with running which I haven't done since I was probably 10,jogging for longer too and feel constantly tired. Just looking for advice really have others struggled when increasing their exercise for first few weeks and how have they managed it?
I started it off on different days but then I was working out 6x a week so I'm trying to do them on a same day now and get enough recovery in between.

Are you eating enough to fuel those workouts?1

if you have gone from not working out to 6x a week i am not surprised you're struggling.
start one programme, add the other in slowly - running and lifting 2x a week might be better?0 -
Going 0-100 mph will do that. Back it down a bit and ramp up slower. Running & strength training can certainly be done simultaneously, but your have to build into the capacity and be smart with scheduling and rest days.2

I'm trying to lose weight so I'm eating 1400 a day which is roughly 500 under my TDEE and trying to make good choices it is making me so hungry though.0 -

Are you eating back exercise calories? You're supposed to.0 -

I was working out but not to this extent I like both though but may have to consider cutting running to 2x a week as I'd like to progress with 5x5 if I can.0 -

I am eating some but not confident in eating them all since there's no way to really measure lifting on here and I don't want to overestimate it. Logging it through cardio and gives me an option of 100 calories .

Build up slower - you need more recovery time, especially at the start of a new program.
And doing it with a significant deficit is making it even harder to recover properly.
Active job + 6 workouts a week on only 1400?
"Wiped out", "so hungry", "constantly tired". Your body is sending you a message.
Summary: take more recovery time, eat more food, ease into it.3 -
i found that running and strong lifts was too much for my legs over time - i'm not a great runner - and i was constantly sore. i ended up keeping strong lifts and switching to lower impact cardio and i feel much better. i do kind of miss running but i don't miss it as much as i missed being able so sit down without pain.2

Thanks guys I appreciate everyone's advice.1

Work up slowly. I got through C25K, but I went slowly and repeated several workouts several times. It took me about 6 months total and I was still shaky on the 5K. Now, more than a year later, I am getting close to 6K.
As for 5x5: A quick scan makes it look hard for a beginner. Individual training is best, but expensive. A strength training class at a gym is a good 2nd choice.
Nutrition: If you are working out, you need adequate carbs. You will feel really sluggish if you try to go low carb and do all this.

If you like the lifting, ramp back the running. I would do it once a week, so you can recover more. What about reducing the speed that you are progressing through 5x5, as well? Also: eat more. I know you want to lose weight, but if you have a smaller deficit (250?), you'll feel better.
In the end, what is more important? Your weight loss or increased fitness?0
