Water!!

Does your bladder ever really get used to being saturated with water? I've always normally had about 4-6 cups of water daily. But I've been drinking about 10 - 12 cups of water for the past week (striving for a gallon) and I still have to go at least 5 or 6 times a day. It's so inconvenient. So if I keep this up, will my body get used to the extra hydration?

I haven't had any luck with it. I know when I was younger I could hold it for a long time, but I can't even really do that anymore. I think that your bladder will never really GROW just get really full. I understand the Inconvenience of it when I do my jogging inside I get so mad when I have 30 minutes down and then I have to go....I have failed to get in a full hour without having to stop and go.0

If you space your water evenly throughout the day you'll get used to it. You won't go all day w/o going to the bathroom but you won't be running there every 10 minutes either.
Increasing your water intake gradually instead of going from very little to a lot overnight helps, too.0 -
When I first increased my water intake I felt that I was going all day long. Now that I try to regularly drink 10 to 12 cups a day I don't go too often to where it is an inconvenience. I will note that I seem to go more if I have retained more water after a high sodium day (or days lol)0

Maybe that's my problem. I try to get it all in at work since I usually drink tea with dinner at home and then nothing else.0 -

Urination is a mechanism that removes potential toxins from the body (real ones - not "toxins" that come from hosing out your colon and destroying environment that has taken our species millions of years refine) as well as excess water.
If you insist on drinking more water than your body needs, it will continue to excrete it.
There is no doubt that, under certain circumstances, there is value to drinking water even when you are not thirsty. However, there is zero medical research to slug down 8 glasses a day.
Snopes dealt with this years ago (no link) and it's even starting to appear in "pop" sites like Runner's World and, IIRC, the web site at the Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Valtin, a professor at Dartmouth and the author of a book on kidneys, could find no medical basis for the "8 x 8" recommendation. What I like about this article is that it's balanced, researched, and the discussion appears to be unbiased. Sort of like…science. :-)

Yes, it's actually OK to "drink to thirst" — the American College of Sports Medicine is finally acknowledging that fact, decades after research has shown it to be so.0 -
I enjoy my pee time. It's like little mini break into a cool isolated room. Just think about all the crap flushing from your body. Enjoy the pee!
Make sure you spread it throughout the day so it's not all at night.
5-6times a day doesnt seem like that much.0 -

Thank you! I am not a water drinker, yet am not thirsty even in the hot weather as I drink decaff tea/coffee or dilute squash, or even the dreaded diet coke or lemonade, when I feel like I need it. i cannot see the benefit of flushing my system out every day.... and the constant trips to the loo are not possible in my job. I am not dehydrated, my body is losing weight consistently if slowly, and I am not gonna start slugging down water for no reason!0 -
I dont mind many trips to the bathroom it means im drinking enough water.. and its my body flushing out the impurities....
plus its a teeny bit of time to myself...0 -
I'm drinking anywhere of 3 litres plus of water a day after my first litre I find that because I'm hydrated my body just flushes the water out and I pee sooo much. Lol! That is a downside but on the plus side my skins cleared up and my stretch marks/cellulite seems to be reducing.0

Drinking too much water is not good for your body.
