I have noticed my endurance drastically declining while on Keto. I play indoor soccer and no longer have the same stamina from before I started Keto. Does anyone have advice or experience with this as well? Anything helps!

(Also I try to eat around 30 carbs of whole grain game days, which is my max)

How long have you been doing Keto? I found my performance did suffer at the start. The longer Ihave stayed on it, the less of an affect that had. I found a solid pre-workout drink makes a huge difference for me, but over time the performance issue has diminished a lot

Keto is not an ideal diet for athletes considering carbs are the most efficient and easiest to access fuel source for the body. Of course your stamina and endurance will wane by cutting these out especially before your body has time to adapt. Here is a great article on the keto diet for athletes.

It's controversial to say the least. A lot of people believe carbohydrates are the only way to fuel your workout, a lot of people believe once your body becomes accustomed to using fat as fuel it doesn't make a huge difference. For every article that says you need carbs if you're an athlete, you'll find another that says you can get by on fats for fuel. I think it makes more of a difference the more "elite" of an athlete you become. Like I said, I noticed an initial sluggishness when I first started keto that quickly went away. I've been doing Keto for several months now, but decided a few weeks to try to up my carbs as I'm progressing with more and more intense workouts. As soon as I upped my carbs and went back to a "conventional" diet, I felt the exact same sluggishness as when I started Keto! My take on it? Your body is an amazing machine that loves to adapt

Also, this article states endurance athletes, not athletes in general. Look at the physique of a marathon runner, and that of a sprinter. Please don't think I'm bashing you, I'm not. But it isn't as simple as a blanket statement.

I do agree with you, but her stating that she is a soccer player where endurance is a large factor I thought it would be beneficial. Also, I think a major point is the adjustment period for your body where performance will in all likelihood be hindered until the body adjusts to using the new fuel source. This could be her current state and it sounds like you experienced something similar when you first started. It really comes down to your goals and performance.
