calories burned

Hello MFP friends,

Ok I bought a new workout dvd and I need to know how many calories I am burning. In the dvd there are 3 workouts.

1st work out...
upper body workout 2 min 20%
lower body workout 3 min 30%
upper/lower body workout 2 min 20%
abs 3 min 30%

2nd work out...
upper body workout 4 min 33%
lower body workout 4 min 33%
abs workout 4 min 34%

3rd workout...
upper body 5 min 31%
lower body work out 5 min 31%
abs 6 min 38%

    Your best bet is going to be getting a heart rate monitor. Calorie burns vary depending on weight, lean muscle mass, exercise intensity and so on, so it can be hard to estimate. Assuming you don't have one yet, consider logging the exercise as calisthenics in the cardio section. Be aware that MFP tends to overestimate calorie burns. Many people consider the actual burn to be about 50% to 80% of what MFP reports. A HRM will give you results closer to your actual burn. Sorry I can't be more help.

    Get a HRM. Seriously. I used to estimate, but as soon as you can track accurately it is so. motivating. And, I also discovered my estimates were way, way, way off.
