Hi everyone!

If you are still struggling with your weight loss progress, you may find if extremely helpful to know that different people need different nutrition. It is an eye-opener to many people to know that there is NO ONE RIGHT WAY TO LOSE WEIGHT!

Wow, right?

I read quite a bit about the Metabolic typing and found it to be so true. Here is one of the links I found for a free test to find out, which metabolic type you are, so try it for yourself, and see if you need to eat more protein, or more carbs to be healthy and feel balanced.

I know for sure that there are too many carbohudrate-rich foods in the American diet anyways. So, the first and the most important step is obviously to remove all the processed foods from your diet. But there are people who already eat healthfully and are still not losing the weight. So, the Metabolic typing might help you with that! Let me know what you think and if you have already had any experiences using this method.

It was interesting but I'm not really sure what it means. It came up "carbo type" and says I should have a higher proportion of carbs to protein and fat. Strange - exactly the opposite of what I've been trying to do which is up my protein.

So what now? Should I try to eat what they suggest and see if I lose more rapidly or feel better?

    That's rather interesting.

I ended up being Profile no. 2 which means I'm a protein type. Funny it chooses that, because I lack in protein due to my kidney problems.

    Thanks for the link. :)
  • thanks for sharing- I also got profile#2 so I went ahead and changed my MFP goals to reflect what that site recommended and I will try it out and see if I see a difference!

    thanks!

You should click on the link below the results, and they have a more detailed description of the foods you should eat more.
Also, here is another link, supplemental to the original one I posted, which tells how to discover the foods that are right for you.

And yes, I believe, if you take the test seriously, and see that you feel better on more protein or more carbs (whichever is suggested for you), you WILL help your body and go with it, not against it.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE is that MORE CARBS DOES NOT mean many more flour and sugar products if you want to help your body! Ideally, you want to add some whole grains, and some starchy vegetables.

I got profile#2, the protein type. Which stinks 'cause I LOVE my carbs!

I'm a firm believer of typing the metabolism... when I set my goals I used the percentages set up from this site http://caloriecount.about.com/metabolic-types-eating-ft93247 (which is supposively Jillian Michaels' test from her book). I'm guilty and haven't checked out your link yet (but I WILLL... :blushing: ). I have had great success using these percentages unless I go and fudge up my menu as I have in the recent past. :flowerforyou:

I just went and took this testing (Carbo #1) and it is different than the link's result that I shared. I can tell you right now (knowing how many of the foods react with me with my sugar issues) that this would be trouble. So, in the end, it is an individual thing and we need to find what truly works for each one of us. Thank you for sharing.

I did one of those tests at the beginning of my current weight loss programme. I went into it with a totally open mind, answered all the questions honestly and it came up with me being of the protein type. Okey dokey I thought, I made sure I adapted my eating accordingly and guess what....... it worked, completely.

All those years of struggling, only for it to be something very simple, it was right under my nose the whole time.

I would support the OP in what they are saying. Give the test a go, you may surprise yourself and you may also find that you have been eating things that may not have suited you completely and so made your whole weight loss programme just that little bit more difficult and let's face it, anything that makes weight loss that little bit easier and then enjoyable just has to be worth the effort.
