How to stay in ketosis

Day 4 my body did have trace amounts of ketones. Day 5 i may have had barely any ketones. On a keto diet is it ideal to stay in keto state every day? I snuck a small snack for a junk food craving and i felt absolutely miserable after eating them. Was some whales crackers. Kinda like goldfish. So i won't be doing that again. Ty in advance. Still new to this.

    I'm afraid that you can not always go by urine ketostix to tell if you are in ketosis. If you are well hydrated, that will affect your results too.

    I've been eating under 50g of carbs er day, and more like under 20g of carbs, for the last couple of years. I rarely get beyond trace ketones. Right now I am trying an almost zero carb diet, and my ketones are still just trace.

    The crackers may have stopped ketosis for a while but you were probably back in ketosis within a few hours. As time goes by, and you become fat adapted, extra carbs like that will affect your ketosis less.

    Buy some pork rinds and a dip, or some salty nuts or beef jerky so the next time you crave a salty snack. Good luck. :)
