My birthday was yesterday and I did my daily exercise routine as normal, ate healthy for bkft, lunch, went to the olive garden for dinner...totally splurged! figured today was a new day and I'd get back on track!

Now my question is...how do you handle situations when someone brings in a cake to work, people take you out to dinner, out for drinks, throw you a party...etc...?????

I don't want to be rude and decline...especially when someone went out of their way for me...

    Happy Birthday :flowerforyou:
It's really hard to say "no" sometimes, but there is a way around it. Most restaurants offer some healthier choices, so opt for something chock full of veggies or a grilled chicken salad. I just celebrated my b-day & my boss wants to take me to Uno's for a b-day treat. One of my favorites is the grilled chicken ceasar salad: since I have Celiac's (gluten allergy) & can't have the crutons, I ask for them to add tomatoes instead. It is really filling and around 300 cals total.
Another option is just do a few more exercises that day to balance out the cal overload: even if it's a few extra crunches & lunges, it pays off.

It's my best friend's birthday and he wants to go to Pizza Express! Sounded like a nightmare. But, I just got up early and exercised more than usual and have eaten healthy all day. Then I looked up the nutritional info online and I'm planning my meal before I go so that I don't go over. Not sure what I'm having yet :)
  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

well birthday cake is my weakness...i love icing...sad to say but I do....anywho, i have recently learned that its ok to have a piece of cake etc, just to proportion it....i figured out how much 150 calories to 200 calories of a piece is and i stay under that mark....theres nothing wrong with enjoying a birthday cake, its just how you choose to enjoy it...

i dont drink alcohol so can't help you on that one ....

but whether it be applebees, benigan etc...i have learned not to deprive myself of what I enjoy eating...i have learned portion control and just to stay within my calories...if i want steak, i will eat steak etc.
now not every one uses this approach but since i am making this a lifestyle, and to avoid falling off and gaining my weight back, my approach is to not deprive myself of things i like to eat, just learning how to proportion it and stay within a healthy calorie range....
