It's usually fries (chips) coated in brown gravy and served with cheese curds and sometimes bacon, extra cheese, etc. Not usually something I would eat, but my Canadian friends swear by the stuff and some places have their own special take on it.

I found that out when it was forcibly fed to me by a friend of a friend. Some Canadians are pretty fierce about it and its potential deliciousness.2 -
