24-50 rep/set scheme

Has anyone heard of this 24-50 rep/sets principle? I was wondering if there is any science behind it or if someone is just spitting B.S.

    If you're capable of doing 8x3 at 90% of your max with 180 seconds rest, you've either supplementing *kitten* or you've miscalculated your max.

    The more I look at stuff like this, the more I realize that more people have jumped onto 5/3/1's Training Max principle. That 90% is probably actually more like 75-81% of true 1RM.
