I'm roughly 20 lbs overweight. I was extremely fit and at my ideal weight of 172 lbs about two years ago. I also had some decent muscle development. Not bulky, just athletic.

Over the past two years, I have continued my workouts, but became very sloppy with my eating habits. It may have had something to do with meeting my new wife and then getting married...lmao!

In the last few weeks, I've been working on counting calories and have changed my workout routine to have a healthy balance of cardio machines, free cardio, free weighs, weight machines, etc. I've been quite successful, having lost 4 lbs on the last 4 weeks.

There have been occasions that my weight bounced back some due to being on antibiotics for a few days, and then another time being out of town for the weekend. But I seem to bounce back ok.

Wen I have plenty of time, my workouts are as follows:
30 minutes vigorous bike
20 minutes free weights, free cardio, weight machines
30 minutes vigorous elliptical
20 minutes free weights, free cardio, weight machines
30 minutes vigorous treadmill
20 minutes free weights, yada, yada, yada

On days with limited time, I'll do vigorous cardio only:

30 min bike
30 min elliptical

I'm able to visit the gym on average 4 days per week.

For the "pros" here, what are your thoughts? Am I doing alright? Or are there alterations I should make? I'm 5,10 with small to medium frame. Want to get to ideal weight of 172 again and continue to work on athletic build.

Exercising 2.5 hours in one day is excessive for a beginner. I'd create a more sustainable plan that you'll be likely to maintain long term.
