Just found out I've got a provisional ballot place for this event on 30 July. Its a 46 mile bike ride around London. not sure what to do. I cycle to work (25k round trip) 4 days a week, but never cycle a single distance of more than about 10 miles. I'm just off marathon fitness, so in pretty good shape really. Just not sure whether to take up the place or whether I won't be ready in 2 months?

Any thoughts? ?

    Jealous!
    I just found out I didn't get a place! :(
Same as the Ride London 100 ballot three years running.....

As you are already cardio fit and accustomed to cycling then two months should be no problem at all to get the distance up, get at least one longer ride in every week. It's going to be more a comfort thing than anything else that determines how much you enjoy it, the distance shouldn't be a problem at all.
It's on a lot of my local roads and is nearly all a very flat course as it avoids the hills the Ride 100 takes in.

The British Heart Foundation website has quite a selection of training plans or you could just wing it - add five miles a week to your longest ride for instance. I'd just wing it in your situation.
