Crossfitters- working out late, what should I be eating?

I typically attend the 6:30 crossfit workout and don't get home until about 8, give or take 20-30 minutes on some days. Tonight I got home at 8:30. I obviously need to eat after my workout but am usually in bed by 9/9:30. What should I be eating before hopping in bed? Is it ok to eat 5 ounces of chicken, a cup of brown rice, and a veggie 30 minutes before sleeping?

Yes, why not? When I used to have swim practice late, I'd just eat a PBJ sandwich and apple on the ride back. Shower and bed when I got home.

As long as it fits in your daily calories, it's fine. I eat dinner late. I try to get protein in after cf.

Yes, fit it in your daily calories and macros.

As long as it doesn't cause you heartburn or anything that may disturb your sleep, you can eat whatever you want. Eating late isn't inherently bad. It's only when eating late causes you to eat too much for the day

I'd go with white rice personally.... But if you want brown, go for it!

What are your goals? To lose weight/fat, maintain weight/recomp, or gain weight/muscle?

I prefer to have most of my daily carbs in the meals before the workout (and after if I do eat after). Carbs are easy energy and good in the meal leading to a workout, and they are good post workout for recovery, so long as you are around your caloric goals.

I.e. I'm cutting weight right now so my meals are scarcer. I will eat dinner consisting mainly of protein and carbs, and not eat anything after. If I do an AM workout, I try to have some carbs before workout (banana, oatmeal, milk, etc.) and my meal after workout will also be carb and protein centric, leaving dinner to be protein and fats.
