Is a hotdog or Italian sausage a better choice than pizza? How do I use MFP to answer those kinds of questions?

If it fits your calories and you want to eat it then it's a good choice in my book.

Before you go, look up the closest approximation you can find in the database and do some comparisons. You won't have specific brand names, so choose a high estimate. Think about what's worth the calories for you. For me, it wouldn't be ballpark pizza, but definitely 2 hot dogs and 2 beers. I'd do the math to see what it would do to the rest of my day. I might eat light a day or two before if it looked like things would be a little tight. Someone else might decide, if it doesn't happen often, to just call it a day to eat at maintenance. Enjoy the game!

its really hard to answer that. there are many variables in each of those in terms of toppings that could impact the overall calorie range of each. the best thing you may do is just add each with all the toppings you'd get into your diary and see how they shake out. there is also a recipe builder where could build these sandwiches but admitedly you would be guessing to some extent not knowing for sure how each was made.

its good your questioning this. :) play with recipe building with the best knowledge you have of the foods or select foods already in the database that seem to fit.
